some part of the Grand Canyon
« Previous Main Next »

Flew to Vegas last week for a meeting. There's always good scenery from the Rockies on, but it's tough to shoot unless you're in front of the wing on the north side of the plane---behind the wing the jet exhaust blurs everything, and you're shooting into the sun on the south side (R side flying west, L side flying east). I flew Southwest, which doesn't reserve seats, but since I was lucky enough to check in early and be at the head of the line, I got a good seat.
The RAW images always look hazy (as does the actual view) but if you keep your exposure as high as possible without clipping the highlights, you get enough data that you can really open things up in Photoshop by raising the black point in Curves. If you comment with your email, I can explain for those who want.
